Update from our 7/27/17 bargaining session.

Dear UChicago Faculty Forward Members:

Your Union bargaining team met with Management again on Thursday, July 27th to exchange non-economic proposals.

Earlier in the summer, we reached a tentative agreement that will make all appointments renewable and create paths to promotion. Part-timers who regularly teach 3 courses a year will receive an annual contract with the possibility of benefits. Full-timers will have presumption of renewal after their second appointment and longer contracts after subsequent renewals. That presumption of renewal language is stronger than any faculty contract out there, and we’re proud of what we accomplished and excited for the changes it will bring about at the university.

We also reached a tentative agreement on a grievance procedure article that provides robust protections for our members.

Our next bargaining session is Monday, August 7th 9-5. We are encouraging members to join us for these bargaining sessions. Please let us know if you’d like to attend on August 7th by emailing anyone below at least 2 days before August 7th.
